Your telecoms project will need: Planning and design You’ll need to: Identify existing routes are and establish what is required to build to targeted areas Provide costs for permitting, engineering, construction and splicing Audit existing systems ie access vaults, storage loops, splice cases, cable locations + footages Create the construction prints, including aerial/underground, boring profiles, cross sections, other details and technical documentation Permitting You’ll need to: Gather information in regards to permitting with the municipality Provide the necessary documents for permitting projects Coordinate and track permits as they are processed Create traffic control plans, work zone site plans, and permit plans Coordinate with the property owner to create a Building Access Agreement Construction of the project You’ll need to: Create the physical path Outside Plant, which may include directional drilling/boring, trenching, and aerial Creating the physical path Inside Plant, including installing telecom racks, placing conduit on ladder racks/cable racks, and routing it in drop ceilings Splicing into existing infrastructure You’ll need to: Splice one cable directly onto another or into a Fiber Distribution Panel Consultation, engineering & construction, consolidated Each of these steps has its own nuances and complications. Additionally, each of these steps relies onevery other step to progress smoothly. Errors and delays in one phase lead to delays in the other phases.When you have different parties involved, they each have to protect their own bottom line. This means their immediate goals and interests don’t always align. Also consider that the lack of familiarity between parties leads to miscommunication, which leads to errors, which lead to waste and delay.
